Faithful to the Finish

Dear Partners and Friends,

I wish I had the time to express to you the fullness of what God is doing here in Colorado. I don’t I have the space in this blog to fully articulate everything going on in my heart and happening to us here as we build Legacy Church. You may just have to come and visit us and see for yourself! I’m laughing as I type these next words…I don’t think any of us have ever worked this hard in all of our lives! But in all seriousness, His great grace has overtaken us. Paul referred to it in Acts 4:33, “…and with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.”

Every morning in devos, as a staff, we gather together in the living room of a cabin we’ve converted into our office. Our daily prayer remains, “Lord help us build Your Church today, for Your kingdom and for your glory.” And He is answering our prayer. Every one of us is walking in a new level of that great grace and with His help, we have been able to do this thing with so much excellence, ease and joy! You know you’re in the center of God’s will when every single person on your team and their children are excited to show up and spend their Saturdays scrubbing bathrooms, cleaning up the property, ripping up weeds, installing carpet, and painting. We leave filthy yet fulfilled, feeling like the happiest people on the planet.

The lyrics from that old song keep looping through my mind,

“I’m working on the building,

It’s a true foundation

I’m lifting up a bloodstained

Banner for the Lord

I’ll have a good time

Working on the building

I’m going to heaven

To get my reward

Well I’ll never get tired

Working on the building

I’m going to heaven

To get my reward”

Of course Jesus said it best, “…upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18).

Sometimes it just hits us. We have to pinch ourselves, especially after we get a good glimpse of Pikes Peak. We look at each other and say, “Do we really live here?” Everywhere we turn, the mountains are majestic, the weather is absolutely perfect, and we are surrounded by this amazing faith family that God has brought to us. We are living in our dream and we can’t help but praise God and thank Him for where He’s brought us from and what He has brought us into!

For many months now, moving toward the launch of the church, we have been praying this with our kids at bedtime, “Father God, I thank You for the good work You have begun in us, and I call You ‘faithful to finish it’ because You are the author and the finisher of our faith.”

This prayer comes from a couple different places in scripture. Philippians 1:6 (NLT) says “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” Hebrews 12:2 (NKJV) says, “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Both of these scriptures and others too make it clear to us that as much as we love and celebrate the beginning of something, God always has the finish on His mind.

These last six months have been exhilarating, rewarding, and awe-inspiring,  but we too are stirred up and excited about the finish. In this month’s partner letter Jeremy said this and I believe it’s worth repeating,  “We are practicing this right now in these days leading up to the launch of Legacy Church because we know, though we haven’t yet begun, God already has His eyes on the development, the completion and the finished product of our church. I’m busy listening for what He would say about this place so that I can say the same. If He calls it successful, so will I.  If He calls it a local church with a global call, that’s what I’ll call it too. If He says it’s a healing place, then that’s what I say it is. All I have to know is that He’s been faithful to lead us and to provide for us right up to the start of this thing, and He will be faithful to do the same all the way through to the end.”

Partners, thank you for sowing into the Buy Up Build Out project. Because of God’s generosity at work in and through you, we are getting closer and closer to being able to open the doors of the church.

Our team is almost finished with the children’s wing and construction has begun in the main sanctuary. We have been leaning into God’s wisdom in every area and believing for His help in speeding up the process with the county and for favor to be able to start services as soon as possible.

We are excited to announce that our first Family Night at Legacy Church will be Sunday, September 8th at 6pm, at our new location in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado. We look forward to spending time together in worship and in the Word. This will be the first of several Family Nights leading up to our official launch service in the fall, and we will be taking these opportunities to talk about the mission and vision of Legacy Church. Everyone is welcome to attend Family Nights especially those who are interested in volunteering and joining one of our service teams.

We love you and bless you,

Sarah
